Principal's Message

Dr. Nicole Robinson

Dear Dolton SD 149 Families:

Please be informed that we will host our GREAT DEVICE DEPLOYMENT beginning the week of October 5, 2020.  Parents are being encouraged to visit the website at www.sd149.org to retrieve and complete the Chromebook Agreement.  Also, the Chromebook Agreement was mailed to all parents with the interim progress reports.  On the day of child’s device deployment, you will bring your signed copy of the Chromebook Agreement with you and submit it to a tech team member.

The Chromebook device curbside pick-up event will be held according to the schedule listed below.  Please check your child’s school and their grade level. It is important to be on time so we can get everyone in and out during their scheduled time frame.  Families with students in multiple schools will have to attend your child’s scheduled time based on his or her grade-level.

How does curbside pick-up work?

•           This event will be virtually “drive-through”.  Parents and students will remain in their              vehicles the entire time (not unless they are walking to pick up a device) and are                          encouraged to wear a mask.

•           Staff will use masks, gloves and practice social distancing during device distribution.

•           Upon arrival, vehicles will be directed by security personnel towards the designated pickup spot              to receive your device(s).

•           If a parent has to complete the Chromebook Agreement on-site, then a staff member will             retrieve your device.  Once you have submitted your signed Agreement, then you will be             given your device.  PLEASE MAKE A COPY OF YOUR SIGNED AGREEMENT FOR             YOUR FILES.  YOU WILL SUBMIT THE SIGNED ORIGINAL TO A TECH TEAM             MEMBER AT THE CURBSIDE PICK-UP. Please click the hyperlink to access the             Chromebook Agreement

•           If you don't have a vehicle, walkup service will be provided.  However all safety and social             distancing practices will be enforced.

•           Password assistance will also be available for those parents who still have not setup                          student email accounts.  There will be technicians available to help you get setup.

•           A Parent or Legal Guardian must pick up devices.  Students will not be allowed to                        pick up devices unless accompanied by a parent or guardian/sibling at least 18             years of age.

•           Chromebook Agreements are required to be signed by the parent/legal guardian before                         receiving a device.  There is also a space for the student's signature and date.

•           Please be aware that security personnel and the local police will be on duty to ensure a safe                     and orderly device deployment process.  They will also be in place for traffic control.

                                    The Middle Schools—Friday, October 9, 2020

                                      7th-CCA                                  9:00 am – 10:00 am

                                      8th-CCA                                  10:00 am – 11:00 am

                                      7th-STEM                               11:00 am – 12:00 pm

                                      8th-STEM                               12:00 pm- 1:00 pm

                                      7th-SOFA                                1:00 pm- 2:00 pm

                                      8th-SOFA                                2:00 pm-3:00 pm

For the Middle Schools (CCA, STEM, SOFA), vehicles will enter the parking lot using the entrance on the east side of the parking lot and pull up to the main entrance to receive their device.  Once completed, please exit on the west side of the lot to ensure a safe flow of traffic.

Ease the Pick-up Process

Please take a marker and an 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper and, in large print, and write your child’s first/last name and school (CS, NBLA, CMB, DKM, BV, CCA, SOFA, STEM).  When you get on school grounds, display/tape this piece of paper in your front window. This will allow us to quickly identify the student and speed up the distribution process.

Curbside Plan for Inclement Weather

In case of inclement weather, all schools will follow the same pickup schedule.  However, curbside will transition park-side (in the school’s parking lot area).  Upon arrival, vehicles will be directed to go into the school's parking lot/parking area.  Parents will provide a tech team member with their cell phone number, child’s name and grade/teacher’s name.  Parents must wait to be notified via the, Waitwhile app. While parents are in the waiting area, tech members will service parents by making sure that the Chromebook Agreement has been signed and then deploying devices.  Parents will be serviced in a rotational manner. Parents will be notified via a texted notification when their equipment is ready.  Equipment will be deployed from inside the schools and transported to the parent’s vehicle.

It should be noted that curbside pickup service may be temporarily suspended with little to no notice during times of extreme inclement weather. This includes, but is not limited to, periods of extreme heat warnings, heavy rains, severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings/watch, windstorms or derechos, etc.  Please call the school or visit our website at www.sd149.org  for updated information.

What to do if you miss the curbside pick-up?

If you were not able to attend the scheduled curbside pick-up, then contact me via phone or email and make a scheduled appointment to retrieve your child’s device.

Lastly, below is a link to the P-EBT link card.  Every child qualifies for a debit card for $352 per month.  Parents can also apply for money back from March 2020 through June 2020.  If you decide to participate, please do the email application process.  Your income does not prohibit you from applying.  Once you have the card, funds will reload each month.

Our district’s theme for this school year is, Undefeated! As we begin the year, it is my hope that our students will continue to achieve and grow by being champions in their learning, by attempting new things, staying engaged, and by challenging themselves every day.  We believe all our students deserve a quality education in which their individual needs are met, exceeded and supported. I am thankful to have the opportunity to serve as your principal. I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas. I look forward to a great school year with you and your children despite the challenges and obstacles we face resulting from the pandemic.

Warm Regards,

Dr. Nicole Robinson
