Principal's Message

Dr. Nicole Robinson

Greetings STEM Academy Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. We are glad that you are joining us, as we embark on an exciting year of teaching and learning at STEM Academy. After the last year of functioning in a fully virtual setting we are excited to return to full days of in-person instruction in the building. Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic we will continue to implement mitigation measures as established by the CDC. This will include the requirement for all students to wear masks while indoors and on the buses, social distancing of at least 3 feet between students where practicable, and regular handwashing and/or access to hand sanitizers. All visitors to our school will also be required to wear masks.

Our district’s theme for this school year is, Moving Students Forward! As we enter the 2021 – 2022 school year, we will be able to grow together as we focus on collaborative learning through the school-wide implementation of our balanced literacy program along with our new math initiative partnering with MathPDP. This year we will renew our commitment to excellence in all that we do, as we seek to provide engaging instruction daily with the expectation that all students can learn and succeed. We will continue to provide students with opportunities to address academic deficiencies and to build numeracy and literacy skills.

We are pleased to inform you that Dolton School District 149 will continue the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), an option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs, for 2021-2022 school year. Schools that participate in CEP are able to provide healthy breakfasts and lunches each day at no charge for all students enrolled in that CEP school.

Our first day of school will be a half day on Monday, August 30, 2021, beginning at 8:20 am – 11:20 am. The first full day of school is Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 8:20 am-2:50 pm. Students will be required to wear a red polo style shirt and khaki pants. Enclosed you will find the transportation form, an information verification form, school supply list and your student’s schedule. Please complete the bus transportation form, check the information verification form for accuracy, and make changes if needed. Please bring both forms to school at your earliest convenience on or before August 13, 2021. You may also fax your forms to 708-868-7562 or scan and email them to my administrative assistant Mrs. Washington at washingtonver@sd149.org.

I look forward to building relationships with all STEM families throughout this year. It is going to be an amazing year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Nicole Robinson
