Director of Grants and Transportation Message

Mrs. Dellnora Winters

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The Transportation Department would like to welcome the families of School District 149 back to the "Moving Students Forward" 2021-2022 school year. We are excited about return to in-person learning as well as transporting your child to and from school. School District 149 takes pride in the safety and welfare of student riders in all matters related to transportation. We would like you to know that we are dedicated to providing the safest ride possible. We strive for excellence and are always looking for more efficient ways to improve human relations and processes. While safeguarding the safety of our students know that it is at the forefront and foremost importance.

With that said, as the opening day of the school year vastly approaches and we anxiously anticipate the start of in-personing learning, we continue to assess, reassess our protocols and opening day preparation. Namely, the challenges we face with our Student Transportation Company, First Student, and the school bus driver shortage have continued to exacerbate since the COVID-19 crisis. Dolton School District 149 will work with our Student Transportation Company to maximize the existing drivers by staggering or combining pick-up and drop-off times. Please be patient with us as we continue to educate our children; working together will get us through this uncharted territory.

Riding the bus is a privilege. Dolton School District 149 family, please work with us to keep your child safe by following the below expectations.

Dolton School District 149 Student Safety Transportation Expectations

  • Students must wear a mask at the bus stop and on the bus at all times.
  • Arrive at the bus stop five minutes before the scheduled arrival time and wait at the bus stop in an orderly manner. Please be mindful of other's property.
  • Parents/designees are required to be at the bus stop for younger children.
  • Students are expected to follow all bus rules and other supervisory personnel at all times.
  • Eating/drinking is not allowed on the school bus.
  • Students will remain seated and out of the aisle while riding the school bus.
  • Students will not position their arms, leg, or head outside the window.
