Principal's Message

Ms. BeNita Parker

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This year with Remote Learning our IAR Testing will still take place; however, your student will only come to school on their designated days for testing. The Federal law requires the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to administer these assessments to all students who attend public schools in the state.  Students will only come to school on their scheduled testing days.  Students will continue their normal remote learning schedule on non-testing days. The assessments will be administered to one grade level per day.

Dolton School District 149 students in grades 3-8 will take the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) test.  The students will be assessed in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.  The IAR Assessment will occur during March and April.  Specifically, students in grades 3-8 will take the assessment during our designated testing window of March 15th – May 14th.

We understand that this will be the first time our students have returned to the school building since the beginning of the pandemic and you may have concerns. Please note, we are taking every safety precaution to ensure your child and the CS staff will be safe during this time. Before entering the school bus and/or building, your child must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth. All masks are required to stay on until they return home. In deciding whether or not to send your child to school on their designated testing days every morning please access how your child is feeling before sending to school, if you or your child is displaying any symptoms of COVID-19, PLEASE STAY HOME!  We also need you to ensure that they have not been in close contact to anyone with a suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19.

We have divided ALL classrooms into 2 testing groups; 1 –AM & 1- PM. The AM students are expected to arrive for testing at 9:00 a.m. and will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. ( the AM dismissal times will vary, please see the attached schedule.) The PM students will arrive for testing at 12:45 p.m. for testing and will be dismissed at 3:30 p.m. All bus transportation will run as normal. If you are choosing to transport your child to and from school, please adhere to the scheduled arrival and dismissal times. Please see the enclosed transportation schedule for your route information.

Upon arrival to school, all students will receive a light snack before testing and a bag lunch to take home at dismissal.

All students are expected to be in their school uniform and should leave book bags and Chromebooks at home.

Please remember that it is extremely important that students arrive to school on time. Students arriving after the start of the testing session will be required to return home and complete a Make-up test.  If you have, any further questions or concerns feel free to give me a call at 312.439.7201.
