Principal's Message

Ms. BeNita Parker

Dear Parents/Guardians of Caroline Sibley Superstars:

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year. We are excited to welcome students and support them as they begin, continue or end their educational journey with us. The beginning of the year can be an exciting, celebratory time. Although it is not the typical start due to COVID-19 and the necessary changes, we are excited to have our students return to the building. The first day of school will be a half day on Monday, August 30, 2021. All students are required to wear the school approved uniform and a mask daily.

However, we must acknowledge that the current conditions in our nation also make the beginning of the school year a time filled with concern and fear for many.  I want to assure you that we have taken precautionary measures in all aspects to create a safe learning environment for our students, teachers and staff.

Our district’s theme this year is Moving Students Forward together we will work to build a productive partnership to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential. Our CS theme is “LEVEL UP”~ which means we are striving to advance to the next level in all aspects of education.

So, as we begin to move forward, things will look differently, but the high quality, rigorous and engaging education we provide our students will LEVEL UP!

We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities.  We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

  1. Attends school daily and arrives on time {school begins at 9:00 a.m.} ready for the day’s learning experience.
  2. Completes all homework assignments given by the teachers.
  3. Reads daily to develop a love, joy & passion for Reading and to improve literacy skills.
  4. Shares school experiences with you, so that you are aware of his/her school life.
  5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject.
  6. Knows that you expect him/her to be successful.
  7. Maintain a positive rapport with the school community.

Within the first week of school, your student will bring home the CS expectations. Please review the documents together with your child. If you have, any questions feel free to contact your child’s teacher or me.  It is very important that you and your child be fully informed regarding our standards related to appropriate behavior for a safe and productive school year.

At Caroline Sibley, we remain steadfast in our continued commitment to academic excellence, innovative practices, school safety, and inclusive excellence. We are proud of our achievements and grateful for our Superintendent and the Dolton149 School Board. We are committed to collaborating with all members of our school communities to ensure safe, healthy spaces that affirm the identity of each student, leveraging the assets they bring. We do this in service of safe, welcoming spaces for all students to learn in, for all staff to work in, and for all community members to visit.

Also, we are pleased to inform you that Dolton School District 149 will continue the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), an option available to schools to participating in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs for the 2021-2022 school year.  Schools that participate in CEP can provide healthy breakfasts and lunches each day at no charge for all students enrolled in that CEP school.

The wonderful CS staff and I feel privileged to have you as a part of our school family. To all our students, communities and families, we welcome you and thank you for your continued support.
