Pretty Brown Girl

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Pretty Brown Girl Day Celebration was well attended! Thank you to the board of education as we had over 200 girls from kindergarten through eighth grade attend this event on Saturday, February 28th at the South Shore Cultural Center in Chicago, Illinois.  Our Pretty Brown Girls learned that it is okay to be different and unique.  They also learned that girls must embrace themselves and be proud of what they see when they look in the mirror.  Treating other girls with respect and being kind to one another is essential to sustaining positive character.

On behalf of the entire board of education I want to personally thank Sheri Crawley and her staff for taking an interest in our girls and helping them to see their true self worth. I also want to thank every principal, teacher, and social worker, and support staff member for sharing this awesome experience with us.

To show our appreciation for the movement the PBG Girls in CCA, SOFA, and STEM came up with a great idea to celebrate Women’s History Month. “Pink Out” our uniforms in honor of women who made great contributions to our nation!
