Principal's Message

Mrs. ZaRita Beal

We Believe…Excellence, Humanization, & Pride

Greetings Parents, Families and Friends,

Welcome Back, We Missed You!!

On behalf of our entire staff, we would like to welcome our incoming seventh grade students and our returning eight grade students!  It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome a longer school day to incorporate thirty minutes of MTSS instruction daily.  Much planning, construction and hard work has gone into preparing for a successful school year.

Let me begin by introducing myself! My name is Mrs. ZaRita Beal and I will be your principal.  I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year and I am looking forward to meeting new faces, revisiting with familiar ones, as well as hearing all about your summer adventures! I am very excited to work together to make this a fabulous year!

Dolton School District 149 is committed to providing a safe, collaborative and dynamic learning community that empowers and challenges our students to become 21st Century lifelong learners.

Working within this philosophy, the faculty and staff of Creative Communications Academy believes its greatest responsibility is that of preparing its students for effective participation in society, as well as affording every student the opportunity to develop to the fullest potential appropriate to his or her capabilities.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides additional resources to schools that serve students who are underperforming.  In June, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) identified the Creative Communications Academy to receive comprehensive support to accelerate our academic progress in reading and math and to sharpen our focus on the well-being of the whole child.  Based on the preliminary 2017 PARCC scores the Creative Communications Academy has received a summative designation of Lowest Performing (in the lowest performing 5 percent of Title I eligible schools).  This means we have the highest priority for customized supports and additional resources to provide more and greater holistic support for our students.

We will continue our pathway in educating the whole child one-step at a time but with the help of the state.  We welcome this opportunity to build on the great work of our teachers and staff and look forward to including parents, families, and community partners in our efforts.

We will receive resources to address areas that need improvement.  In conjunction with those resources we will continue to work on the implementation of our district/school improvement plan goals relative to math and reading.  The building leadership team is committed to providing every teacher with the proper resources and support to implement the goals in our plan.  In order to ensure that we are providing appropriate interventions for all students, we will also take a deeper look at the NWEA student data to tailor student intervention plans.

In order to accomplish this goal, we strongly believe in this year’s District-wide theme: “Re-ignite Your Passion” I will be spending a considerable amount of time discussing and implementing these concepts into what we are already doing at Creative Communications Academy.  I sincerely believe that by adhering to the basic ideas embedded in these concepts, our students will become well-rounded individuals and ready for the next phase, high school.  When we, as adults and role models, also adhere to these concepts, our students will better see the value of these concepts.

The year will be busy, exciting, and hopefully very rewarding for each student.   We want you to join us in making this the very best experience for your children.  Being informed will help with this experience. Throughout the year our school website, periodic calendars, and newsletters, etc. will attempt to provide you with the most current information.  However, many times you will have questions.  Please do not hesitate to contact me, or any of our staff. Please mark your calendars for these upcoming dates and adhere to our new school hours for students: 8:20 am - 2:50 pm.
