Principal's Message

Ms. Carolyn Franklin

August 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  On behalf of the Caroline Sibley Administration and Staff, it is truly a pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you as we began another exciting school year! Whether your child is returning or new, we are glad that you are part of our Caroline Sibley family!

We are extremely excited about the beautiful changes that have occurred at our building. Over the summer, we demolished a portion of our building and are in the process of adding new blacktop, new sidewalks and new landscaping. We’re also looking forward to a new marquee that will be used to keep you updated and informed about district events.

Our district theme this year is “Educating the Whole Child One Step at a Time”. As the principal of Caroline Sibley, I will continue to work diligently with students, parents and staff members to foster an atmosphere that promotes a child centered learning community. Our teachers and staff will focus on academic excellence for every student, but will also work to foster the growth of our students physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively.  Our goal is to meet and exceed the needs of every individual student and to create lifetime learners that are well rounded and able to meet the challenges of the world around them.

We are pleased to inform you that Dolton School District 149 will continue the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), an option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs, for the 2017-2018 school year.  Schools that participate in CEP are able to provide healthy breakfasts and lunches each day at no charge for all students enrolled in that CEP school.

Your children receive the best education when you and our dedicated teachers work as a team. It’s a parents enthusiasm, support and involvement that inspires children to do their best; and a teacher’s ability to teach what they need to learn. Together we can achieve these goals.  I encourage you to establish a positive rapport and communication system with your child’s teacher and to stay involved with your child’s education by participating in our school and district events. Our district website www.sd149.org is a valuable source of information and will help to keep you abreast of school and district information and events.

School begins on Monday, August 21st from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.. Students are expected to be in their school uniform consisting of a light blue shirt, navy blue pants/skirts/jumpers and dark colored shoes. All staff members will be outside to meet and greet our students and parents on this day and to help our students get settled with their new teachers.  We also hope that you will join us on Saturday, August 26th from   11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for our annual “Back to School” Carnival hosted right here at Caroline Sibley School.

Again, welcome! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office, me or Assistant Principals, Dr. Alfred and Dr. Gibson-White.  We are looking forward to working with each and every one of you this school year!  Together, we WILL make a difference in the lives of our children.

We Believe…Excellence, Humanization and Pride!!

Educationally Yours,

Carolyn Franklin
Principal
