Principal's Message

Ms. Carolyn Franklin

June 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians:

It has been another incredible school year filled with valuable learning experiences and the creation of life long memories at Caroline Sibley School.  Our teachers, staff and administrative team would like to thank you for entrusting us with your most valuable possession. I would like to personally thank each and every parent for allowing me the privilege of serving as your child’s principal over the past six school years. The 2019-2020 school year will begin with many exciting new changes, including the introduction of a new building principal. As for me, I will be assuming my new role as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Dolton School District 149. I am looking forward to positively impacting student learning and further supporting the curriculum needs of our district.

This summer, we are promoting our Balanced Literacy Summer Reading Initiative.  Students should have brought home informational flyers and a reading log during the last week of school. We are asking that each student reads a minimum of 600 minutes this summer and complete the summer reading log. Each student has the opportunity to receive a FREE pack of books by stopping by the Caroline Sibley School Office with their parent on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. during the month of June. Students that return their reading logs on the first day of school will receive a special reward!!

If your child is returning to Caroline Sibley School next school year, there is nothing you need to do with respect to registration unless you received a letter regarding medical compliance and/or residency verification.  If you received one of those letters, you must visit our school office to show proof of the required documents.  Failure to comply with this request will result in your child being withdrawn from our school for the 2019-2020 school year.

Beginning July 1st, the school office will be closed for the summer. Our school office will re-open on Thursday, August 1st. New Student Registration begins on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.. After this date, registration will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays (10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) for the duration of the school year. Proof of residency, as well as an original birth certificate, transfer from previous school and current medical records are required.  Please visit our district website at www.sd149.org for further information.

The first day of school for all students is Monday, August 19th, 2019.  This will be a regular school day which begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m..  School supply lists are available in the school office and are also listed on the website.

Have a safe and restful summer and we look forward to your child’s return in August!

We Believe…Excellence, Humanization and Pride!

Sincerely,
Carolyn Franklin
Principal
