Principal's Message

Ms. BeNita Parker

August 2019

Dear Parents & Friends of Caroline Sibley School,

It is with great pride and excitement that I become a member of the Caroline Sibley’s Professional Learning Community. I am energized and deeply committed to making positive differences in the lives of our children.

As the newly appointed Principal, I possess over 26 years of educational experience, with a specific concentration in Curriculum Development. I am elated to bring my skills as an educational leader to Caroline Sibley and to work with you as a partner to ensure your child’s academic success.

My mission is to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness. We will accomplish this by providing differentiated instruction to meet specific needs through effective instructional methodologies for academic growth.  It is also my goal to create a cultural literate environment so our children value reading. This will be done through numerous professional development and training with our IL-EMPOWER Partner Dr. Margaret Policastro with Roosevelt University.

My vision simply put; We will Embrace Opportunities… Unlock Potential & Inspire Excellence! My vision and mission reflect the on-going values that are critical to achieving positive and the desired future goals for all students. To accomplish this, we will set high expectations for all children and provide supportive systems to assure they are met.

Along with the staff, we will focus on “Accountability: Purpose, Practice & Performance as well as the following:

  • An intentional use of data to drive instruction and increase student achievement.
  • Continue to focus on standard aligned, culturally relevant, rigorous and engaging instruction for all students {Balanced Literacy & Mathematics Practices}.
  • Continue to provide student-led activities to promote school pride & celebrate student achievement.
  • Increased opportunities for parents and Community Partners to engage in school-related events.
  • Continue to implement Social Emotional Learning, Culturally Responsive Teaching and Restorative Practices.

I encourage you to participate in our monthly Parent Coffee Club and Parent/ Teacher Conferences. Our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to our school’s programs.

As in the previous year, Dolton School District 149 will continue the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision {CEP}, an option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs, for 2019-2020 school year. Schools that participate in CEP are able to provide healthy breakfast and lunches each day at no charge for all students enrolled in that CEP school.

Working together, we will continue to strengthen the great work already being done at Caroline Sibley School. While creating a harmonious learning community that is centered around student achievement and excellence.

Thank you in advance for taking an active role in your child’s education.

Educationally Committed,
Ms. BeNita Parker

We Believe… Excellence, Humanization and Pride!
