Board President's Message

Mrs. Darlene Gray Everett

New Administrative Changes in Dolton School District 149

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members:

The Board of Education is pleased to announce that Mrs. Carolyn Franklin will soon become the former Principal of Caroline Sibley school and prepare to serve as the Newly Appointed Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment at the District Level effective July 1, 2019.  Mrs. Franklin will pass the torch to the Newly Appointed Principal Ms. Benita Parker effective July 1, 2019. Mrs. Franklin has worked in the district many years and served in many schools throughout her tenure in Dolton School District 149.  We are proud to bring Mrs. Franklin to the District Level Cabinet and know she will do great work in her new role.

Ms. Benita Parker has 25 years of educational experience including 12 years in administrative leadership.  She started her career as a classroom teacher, lead teacher and reading specialist in Chicago Public Schools.  She is an outstanding educator and administrator who is a great fit to lead Caroline Sibley School.  She comes with a wealth of knowledge in reading and balanced literacy.  She is expected to focus on creating a balanced literacy culture and maintain an educational environment where students feel safe and valued.

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Carolyn Franklin to the District Office and Ms. Benita Parker to Caroline Sibley School!  A meet and greet will be held for the new Principal over the summer.  Stay tuned for a date at time coming soon!

Looking forward to working collaboratively with you again next school year!  Admiration and sincere gratitude for the opportunity to serve as your School Board President!

Darlene Gray Everett
School Board President
