Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning and Program's Message
Dr. Denita Scott
As we begin the 2016-2017 school year, we are excited about the wonderful accomplishments pertaining to student learning. Please review the following:
- The district reading and math curriculum is now posted on the district's website under the tab Parents and Students. You can view all grade levels beginning with Kindergarten through Eighth grades. Each of the standards provides a roadmap for what your child should know and be able to do at each grade level.
- In past school years, the Aim High tutorial program was always scheduled during after school hours. However, an analysis of the program indicates a need for it to be held before school beginning in October of 2016. The Aim High program start times for the elementary schools will be from 7: 40 a.m. – 8:25 a.m. and the middle school start times will run from 7:15 a.m. – 8: 00 a.m. Parents will be responsible for the transportation of their child to the program. More detailed information will be provided at the start of the 2016-2017 school year.
- This school year, students in grades 2-8 were administered the first on-line district-wide curriculum reading and math assessment. This was a great opportunity for students to gain additional experience in taking on-line assessments.
We realize there is still more work to do and ensuring that students receive high quality instruction is a priority. If I can be of further assistance, please contact me at 708-868-8300.
